The last week of June mostly saw us fetching vans back from Auckland, getting insurance, paperwork & that type of thing. On our way back up to Auckland we managed to catch a sale & get some stainless steel coffee plunge-pots for our fleet at a bargain price. We then stayed in a backwoods campsite, awoke surrounded by frost & wanting coffee. Eight coffee pots, no coffee. Alanis Morisette eat your heart out.
The hardest thing to organise has been broadband (it also seems incredibly expensive) which is odd considering the many things we're trying to achieve.
And now onto matters of leisure.
The surf has mostly been windy, messy & big. Getting out into it proved how unfit for surf I am. Still, it could have been worse. Anna managed to persuade her board to give her a nice big shiner!
Then, last weekend (2nd & 3rd) the swell dropped a bit, the wind dropped & went offshore. Suddenly there were perfect waves knocking about. Saturday morning at the beach we did ok & in the afternoon at the point I managed nothing more than to be a floating hazard for the other surfers. Sunday at the beach we did ok again & also chatted with Mickey T & Sunny of Raglan longboards (http://www.raglanlongboards.co.nz/ not too many photos of the boards though). They're cool people. Last time we were in Raglan I'd coveted their boards & had promised myself one if I ever came back... So its no surprise that by Sunday afternoon I was considerably poorer financially but spiritually far better off when I hit the point on my new longboard. I love those things! Even in my unfit state I can paddle & surf them well enough to convince someone I might know what I'm doing! Come Monday, the swell dropped right off & its now gone the opposite way & has been stormy for the last few days so the surfing's tailed off again. Good for business though. http://www.piwiwiwi.co.nz/ needs work.
Off to a Southern Hemisphere Christmas dinner tonight & we're providing the roast. Wish our friends luck!

First time out on it. Mind the rocks! (Shadow's good on the van, maybe we should get some stickers done like that?)
Sunset on a wet board. Brilliant!
